Saying good bye to a Classmate

Not in the way you're thinking.  No, the classmate isn't graduating from preschool.  No, the classmate isn't transferring to a different school.  No, the classmate isn't moving to a different state.  The classmate died.

I guess this is just one of the many difficult aspects of special needs' parenting.  We are more vulnerable to death.

Darus' classmate, D, had Tae-Sachs disease.  The boy was a wonderful ray of light and Darus loved helping to push his wheelchair.  We were blessed to have met him and to have traveled on this journey with him.  My heart goes out to his family and all others that are suffering similar sadness.

Please give your friends and family extra squeezes in remembrance of this sweet boy, named D.
